Having left home at 16 to become a drummer in a grunge band, welsh musician Aderyn has just released her first single as a solo artist. Inspired by artists such as Courtney Barnett and Soccer Mommy with a pop twist, expect raw, lo-fi indie pop. Aderyn started writing songs as a distraction from the excitement of life on a sheep farm in the Brecon Beacons. She found her sound through an amalgamation of playing drums in grunge and punk bands, and listening to too much Taylor Swift, until eventually the quirky, punchy pop sounds of Aderyn were born.

In July 2020 Aderyn released her debut single Lucozade, which was played on BBC Radio Wales on the Adam Walton show and in Bethan Elfyn’s Wales mix. Adam Walton called it one of his ‘favourite songs of the year’ which was rather exciting. The single was recorded in lockdown on the afore-mentioned sheep farm, with band members sending in their parts from as far as Australia. Aderyn is a firm believer in bringing guitars and drums back to pop, and can’t wait to get back out to play some rowdy live shows in 2021.
